New here? Returning? Welcome to Lake Austin!
Greetings Fellow Adventurer! As one of the Event Coordinators of the LARPC I get many requests from people that are new here or returning, looking for role-play/guilds etc. I love answering questions but I want to make sure you get a comprehensive look at the best ways to get started here. Here is a brief synopsis to give a starting point for finding the Role-play you enjoy!
Role-play Guilds:
The LARPC is home to many guilds we have all flavors of Role-play here for you to enjoy. Check them out on the Member Guilds of the LARPC thread and use their link to check out that Guild’s Board.
This enables you to contact various GM's of the community, check out their websites and look them up.
We want you to stay and enjoy yourself for years to come. It is well advised to visit some of our community events to see the guilds of the community in action. There are many varying role-play styles and we want you to find the one that best suits you.
Where to Find Current Role-play Events:
Event and Tavern Night Listings- At the top of this forum is an LARPC Calendar, it will show you many of the upcoming events. However to get a more detailed view of our events and tavern nights please refer to: Lake Austin Tavern Guild
How to find Random Role-play:
No events tonight? Eager to Role-play with us? We are eager to role-play with you. Here are a few ways to find Role-play when you’re looking for it.
Lake Austin Community RP Chat:
In game there are several guilds that keep the channels open for the new chat system that EA has provided us with. If you join the Lake Austin RP Chat channel and give us a yell many people who are online and role-playing can let you know where the role-play is going down that night.
Visit the different Tavern Locations:
Head out to and visit the different Tavern locations, some guilds meet at their taverns regularly or their tavern is in the heart of their activity center and you will run into some fellow role-players.
PM/ICQ the GM of the guild you want to role-play with!
Don’t be shy, send a pm and get that GM’s icq. Or even a random character in the community. Our goal here is to have fun and as they say, the more the Merrier!
The LARPC Rules of Conduct
The following rules were voted into being on the.
Community PvP Rules
1) Stay in character at all times. Even though combat is occurring around you, you must react to all situations from an in character perspective.
2) You must RP first before attacking anyone. Intentions for attack must be made clear. Make sure your opponents are logged in, at their keyboard, and aware they are about to come under attack. Before attacking, make sure you give a short warning; “Halt!” “Have at you”, "You are under arrest", etc., and make sure they react to it. Some members may not wish to fight, in which case a chance to flee or be taken captive maybe in order.
3) If you get knocked unconscious (killed) in character, then you are considered injured for 30 minutes (unless otherwise agreed between guildmasters for a specific event). In that time you must keep your death robe on. You may not join the battle, or do any other demanding actions in character. You may RP being injured, and as such talk with others, but you may not help or interfere with any ongoing battle in any way. You cannot log in a different character to rejoin a battle.
4) A player can only loot his or her own body when the fighting has moved away from them, as auto-loot automatically drops the death robe to the ground, and in the heat of battle people can get attacked when disrobed. Once you have looted your corpse, put your death robe back on and retreat from battle.
5) Those wearing death robes may not be attacked under any circumstances.
6) Looting; Looting is only allowed under the following rule: A member must have a Yellow dyed bag in their backpack, only the items within the yellow bag are allowed to be looted. Players are encouraged to place items of non-value, little value, or Role-play quest items in them. Empty Yellow bags are considered empty backpacks.
7) Each combatant has only one life. Once you have fallen you may not re-enter the battle.
8) During wars or other combats between Guilds, each guild is only allowed to have One (1) Summoned or Tamed pet during each battle. Pets have only one life, and when killed they cannot rejoin the battle. If the tamer dies before the pet, the tamer may not continue to give the pet orders or participate in battle in any way. Mages may cast any spell within their skill level. (This rule is in place to keep the focus on the characters and not who has then biggest or best trained pets)
9) Only craftable weapons, equipment made by a player character is allowed with carry-over (Carry over is; A tailor can made an apron, therefor Tangles and Crimson Censures which are aprons would be allowed), All skills, totems and special moves are permitted during combat.
10) Killing enemy pets is not permitted unless the pet or the owner is attacking you or your allies.
11) There will be a 15 minute warning before any battle or raid is launched. The warning may only be given to a high ranking officer or guildmaster of the enemy organization.
12) If you are mounted and you are dismounted during battle, you may remount if it is a normal mount such as a horse, llama, Bug, etc. Unless it is killed during the battle, in which case it is considered dead. If you are riding a “Pocket Pony” any mount that goes to the backpack and are dismounted, then you CANNOT remount, as that mount is considered dead!
Trump Rule: The above rules can be amended or changed to suit the needs of guilds engaged in wars provided that every guildmaster involved in the war is aware of the new rules. Any dispute of these rules should be posted on the Grand Senate board for clarification or amendment.
Community Conduct Rules
1) Staying in Character (IC); Characters with their Guild tag on are considered in character and must abided by the LARPC rules at all times. Remember what your characters background is, act and speak in a manner appropriate to that. Those with Guild Tags turned off are considered Non-LARPC members and are treated like any other non-member in the game. Please note, those turning off their Guild Tags cannot use any information picked up during their shut down time and is considered cheating by the LARPC. Also the character is responsible for ensuring his/her Guild Tag in turned back on when returning to Role-play events and actions.
2) Keep all Out of Character (OOC) talk in party, guild chat, or ICQ. [Square brackets] should only be used as a very last resort to convey OOC messages. Please keep all OOC civil, remember it’s a game and not personal, also there are players of different ages taking part.
3) The community PvP rules must be followed when involved in combat situations.
4) Complaints, grievances or any other issues should be brought to the attention of your respective guildmaster in the first instance, or assistant guildmasters if the guildmaster is unavailable via ICQ or PM, preferably after any event is over. Take screen shots whenever possible to support your case. If the guildmasters are unable to resolve the problem, they have the option of calling for mediation by contacting an LARPC moderator, or presenting the situation on the Grand Senate. Guildmasters failing to deal with internal issues that affect other guilds will be subject to actions by the Grand Senate.
5) Your guild abbreviation must be visible at all times. The only exception to this rule is if you are OOC doing non-LARPC functions. Mining or gathering resources is not considered OOC, conducting hunts to gather arties, taking part in Shard wide events, or just working skills up are.
6) You may not metagame. Taking out of character information in game (IG) is strictly prohibited. Everything your character knows must come from public in character posts geared to you or everyone in general, or more importantly from interacting with other characters in game. You do not instantly know someone’s name just because it is hanging over someone’s head, nor would you know the guild or guild title without interacting with the person. If someone’s profile is a history of that character rather than a description, you do not instantly know the persons history just by reading the profile. Also if you have more than one character, what one knows does not mean the other automatically knows.
7) Godmoding is not allowed. You may not force other players into RP situations that are uncomfortable for them on an out of character level. You may not make emotes that infringe upon the role-play or comfort level of another person, nor may you emote major changes to the environment around you unless everyone involved is in agreement. You cannot kill or dismember another player’s character unless you have approval from the owning player.
8) You may use all skills your character has to supplement your role-play.
9) Releasing dangerous pets around role-players is strictly prohibited.
