Mission Statement for the Members of Empire of Tokuno
The members of Empire of Tokuno are mature roll-players belonging to a feudal house located in the lands of Tokuno as part of the Greater UO world. We strive for a historical feel of feudal Japan, while attempting to blend in with UO’s history and matrix. We will explore customs, lore, history, attitudes, myths & legends, as well as superstitions within the lives our characters.
The following cast system will be observed:
Imperial Court
Samurai
Crafters and Farmers
Commoners
Untouchables
This does not mean you will have to know how to speak, read or write Japanese to be a member or play along. What it does mean is you may have to do a little homework to understand the history of how and why. Be prepared to act and think in the Tokuno way.
Overview of our goals:
We role-play a feudal lord’s house within the boundaries of UO. This means a cast system unlike any other. Players will have to be willing to set aside egos in order to play by a strict code of Bushido. What does this mean to the player?
It means that you must be willing to take orders from those over you without question, and to be able to give orders to those under you and to accept the fate of your liege lord as your own. You must be willing to put your life in the hands of another and accept the rewards and punishment equally.
You must be willing to show, at all times, proper respect to all members of the Imperial House, the Shogun, his appoint officials, the leaders of your own house and leaders of supporting houses.
This will include bowing, kneeling and showing respect in other forms. As you gain rank and stature within the house you will be given the same respect due your station in life.
Because of the path we choose to play, the possibility of execution or ritual suicide is a common factor within this culture. Players must understand that their actions or the actions of others may cause certain events to take place and should be ready to react accordingly.
DISCLAIMER: While ritual suicide is a common factor in this culture, we, the leadership of EoT, do not condone, nor agree with the taking of one's own life, but for the sake of role-play, we leave that faucet of life up to the player discretion.
Death is a serious matter within the guild. The Samurai class was sometimes known for its brutality, and some commoners were killed for many, to no reason at all. We will strictly monitor player verses player deaths for abuses to this facet of role-play. It is, however, a part of Tokuno life, so this is fair warning.
We do not expect players to kill off or have to remake new characters. If this event should take place, (on a purely voluntary level or if the story-line requires it) a member of the guild can use a name change token to restart a new life. In most cases these tokens will be provided by the GM of the guild for those events that are planned out and the player has agreed prior to taking a major roll in the event.
Our ultimate goal is for our members to enjoy the best role-playing aspects of UO. To learn from and support fellow guild members and to participate in and appreciate the study a particular time line in the history of human, cultural and political development.
